VAPOUR TIGHT

Vapour Tight Fixtures are enclosed, sturdy and made for harsh environments.

They can withstand exposure to water and vapour.

Vapour-proof fixtures can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Vapour Ratings

There are different types of vapour proof ratings, including IP65, IP66 and IP67. Each of these ratings is given to fixtures after they pass a specific type of test successfully.

IP65
Requires a fixture to withstand water projected by a 0.25-inch nozzle from any direction. The test must be conducted for 15 minutes with a water volume of 3.3 gallons per minute and a pressure of 30 kPa at a distance of three yards.

IP66
Must be able to withstand water spraying from powerful jets through a 0.50-inch nozzle from any direction. The test must be conducted for at least three minutes with a water volume of 26.4 gallons per minute at a pressure of 100 kPa from a distance of three yards.

IP67
Must not allow the ingress of water in harmful quantities when the fixture is fully immersed in water. This test must be conducted for 30 minutes at an immersion depth of at least one meter with at least 5.9 inches of water above the top of the fixture.
