TROFFER/PANEL FIXTURES

A troffer is a rectangular or square light fixture that typically fits into a modular dropped ceiling grid, often described as “recessed".

They are durable enclosed fixtures that are built for rugged environments.

What is the difference between LED flat panel VS LED troffer?

LED flat panel vs troffer lights are both drop ceiling recessed fixtures, which are commonly used in the grid ceiling design.
The 3 available sizes are 2×2, 2×4, 1×4.

The 1st difference is their profile.

The LED troffer is a thicker fixture and is typically designed with a center basket.  As the fixture depth is deeper, these fixtures are usually installed in deep ceilings. Whereas the LED flat panel, with a thickness of 2-3 cm can be installed in a shallow ceiling.

The 2nd difference is their lumen efficacy. The troffer fixture generally has higher lumen efficacy than the LED flat panel. The lumen output in a troffer is typically around 130 lm while the LED flat panels tend to range from  110-130 lm.

On the other hand, as an LED flat panel is an edge-lit LED fixture, the light beam is directed through a PMMA diffuser, so the light distribution is more even than an LED troffer light.

The 3rd difference is their cost.

LED flat panel is less expensive than LED troffer light.  These fixtures also offer the recessed mount, surface mount, suspended hanging mount as options.
